St. Paul and the Broken Bones took us to church and brought down the house with their live performance at South on Main last Saturday! Their sound is fresh, yet reflective of the deep tradition of southern soul music born out of places like Muscle Shoals in their home state of Alabama. Here are a few scenes from the show courtesy of the lovely and talented Nancy Steenburgen.
About 150 people braved the evening’s torrential rainstorm to hear a talented group of Arkansas musicians pay tribute to the great Country Music legend, Ray Price. Price passed away in late 2013, but left an imprint on music forever. Led by Little Rock mainstays, The Salty Dogs (plus the furious fiddlin’ of Paul DeWeber and piano accompaniment of Michael Heavner), the event was sponsored by Cosmic Cowboy Studios!
We're excited to share some wonderful moments from the Oxford American's March 22, 2014 fundraising event, Mary & Friends! On behalf of the entire staff of the Oxford American Literary Project—thank you to all of our supporters, donors, and friends who made the event such a great success. Photos are by our dear friend Nancy Steenburgen and OA intern extraordinaire Evan Carter.
